Oh, the joy in knowing Jesus as our Savior and friend! Our knowledge, coupled with faith and love for Jesus, generates a new outlook (born again) on life! Now equipped with this enlighten mindset, we are invited to become God's chosen children. Because He first loved us, we cannot boast of having any role in His choosing us to be His children!
This fact is a humbling experience setting the tone of a relationship by love and truth. Declared His newly beloved, God bids us to follow Him exclusively and forsake the world's limitless desires and selfish ambitions. Walking in the light of His love we are empowered to break sin's bondage over our soul. While God is the essence of love, He is also a just and jealous God. He expects His children to be obedient in submitting their will to the Holy Spirit's teachings! However, His love turns to wrath when those claiming to be His children only perform outward displays of religion!
He knows our flesh makes us susceptible to failure; however, the eternal sufficiency of Jesus's blood allows Him to overlook our weaknesses! God's amazing love for his children surpasses all understanding! Informed and empowered by the Holy Spirit, His children attempt to imitate the righteousness modeled by the lover of our soul. By committing to imitate Jesus's love and life, His children daily put on God's armor to battle the forces of evil that surrounded us!
When God calls us to "come away" from friendship with the world's value system He is attempting to protect His children from straying from His protection and wandering into sin! As His child I recognize His voice calling me to live a spirit filled life on earth! Should I be remiss and forget my loyalty to Him, the Holy Spirit reminds me of my 'born again' experience.
God alone knows my heart, and God alone should rule it. When the Lord lays his hand on my heart, my life is rightly directed. In allowing the Holy Spirit greater access to my heart's desires He takes control of my affections; then my whole life will reflect the presence and training of His Holy Spirit. Praise God!
I am forever indebted to Jesus for the grace He purchased for me at the cross! Reflecting on His gift of salvation continues to fuel the flames of my love for Him! And throughout my life's journey I sense Him at my side whispering in my ear that I am His child and the lover of my soul!
