Recapping Passover Week

We have embarked on the Holy or Passion week, we might spiritually benefit by reviewing the joy, (Sunday-Thursday early evening) then deep sadness (Early Friday morning -Saturday) and then Sunday early morning the acceleration of joy and promise that literally gave mankind an intimate, life changing relationship with our Sovereign God.

The week begins (Sunday) with Jesus and the disciples having dinner with Lazarus whom Jesus had recently raised from the dead. After dinner, Lazarus' sister Mary bathed Jesus' feet with perfume. Mary's act was questioned as wasteful, but Jesus defended her as a grateful act honoring Him while His life on earth was coming to an end.

While they were dining a crowd began to congregate outside the home. They were there to see Jesus and Lazarus who had recently been brought back from the grave. They were also hoping to see Jesus and listen to Him teach prior to Passover. On Monday as Jesus mounted a donkey to worship in Jerusalem, the excited crowd chanted "Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Blessed is the King of Israel" as they entered nearby Jerusalem. The crowds proclaiming Jesus to be the King of Israel revealed their spiritual blindness which was firmly exhibited in their Friday morning shouts, "Crucify him, Crucify him" when prompted by Roman Prefect Pontus Pilot "what shall I do with this innocent man"?

On Thursday evening, prior to Jesus's betrayal (early Friday morning), Jesus conducted His last supper emphasizing and modeling the humility and servant mentality of all practicing Christians (even to this modern era). That night Jesus's flesh struggled with the knowledge of the pain and shame awaiting Him at the cross.

It is important to note that while on the cross Jesus refuses the tranquilizer drink while accepting the bitter vinegar drink. Jesus was not looking to make His crucifixion any easier for Him to endure. Jesus also had ample love and clearness of mind appealing to God "Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing"! Jesus embraced His fate while despising its shame in order to fulfill His calling as lover of all men and Savior to those who believe in His resurrection and practice His commandments!

Jesus's Sunday morning resurrection provided all humans with the right to live eternally in His Father's heavenly kingdom. Trust and obey in Jesus and His commandments to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor, your enemies and the aliens within our borders as you would wish to be loved will fulfill our love obligations to Him and be a testimony to the world that Jesus was sent by the Sovereign God of the universe. Rejoice, rejoice oh Christian lift up your voice to sing.

Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King

The Hope of all who seek Him the Help of all who find.

None others can be so loving, good or kind

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today guiding us along the narrow way! ❤️✝️🙏
